For the past 3 months, twice a week, I’ve gotten in my car, driven 20 minutes to a different side of town, laid on a chiropractic adjustment table, and received Torque Release Technique (TRT) to support my body in its healing. I’m excited to share with you my experience with neurology based chiropractic care.
What is Neurology Based Chiropractic Care?
Dr. Dan Martin is the Chiropractor behind Radius Chiropractic, located in Asheville, NC. Directly from the website… “He is Advanced Proficient Certified in Torque Release Technique, the most specific, scientific, research-based chiropractic technique in the world. Torque Release Technique is a gentle technique, which allows Dr. Dan to serve individuals of any age.”
I wasn’t sure what to expect when a friend referred me to this type of care. I received a thorough intake, health consultation, chiropractic assessment, x-rays, a 1:1 with Dr. Dan to review the findings, and a chiropractic adjustment all within my first 2 visits. The adjustment is done using The Integrator. I’ve inserted a picture below. It’s not as intense as it looks. The Integrator puts quick pressure on different parts of your spine to adjust the spine in order to help your nervous system fully communicate with your brain.
More specifically, the chiropractic assessment included 3 main tests with state-of-the-art technology that allows for an accurate assessment of your nervous system. The tests give feedback on how well your nervous system is functioning and where there is interference within the nervous system. The chiropractic adjustments Dr. Dan performs, utilizing Torque Release Technique, restore the communication within the nervous system allowing your body to heal itself more proficiently. If we are in a constant state of fight or flight, the nervous sytem has no time to focus on rest and repair. In fact, being in the sympathetic state for too long can tank the immune system causing us to get sick often. If the nervous sytem is in balance, it has more energy to put towards communicating between the brain and body. This is essential to things like: digestion, organ function, endocrine system balance, immune system efficiency, etc.
There is a lot about this technique that I still don’t know, but I can offer my review and experience with care over the past 3 months. I am currently on a 6-month plan, so halfway there! Radius Chiropractic also does periodic nervous system testing to see what changes have occurred during care. This is very helpful because I’ve been able to see my healing progress while working with Radius Chiropractic.
Why see a chiropractor?
Your nervous system is the master control system for your entire body. It controls every cell, organ and tissue. When the spinal bones move out of alignment and put pressure on the nerves, vital communication between the brain and the body is compromised. As a result, this nervous system interference leads to aches, pain, discomfort, and organ dysfunction. At Radius Chiropractic, we utilize top technology and principled chiropractic adjustments to locate and correct these misalignments, restoring communication within the nervous system and empowering your body to heal and function how it was intended.https://radiuschiropractic.com/
I couldn’t have said it better myself! I have a slanted spine and misaligned hips. This has been causing lots of pinching nerves at the top of my spine and shooting nerve pain in my lower back. I have felt a significant decrease in nerve pain and have felt calmed overall. I notice I’ll go to do tasks that would normally make me a bit anxious to experience a fraction of the anxiety I was used to.
Final Thoughts on Neurology Based Chiropractic Care
Things that have improved since combining Esoteric Healing and visits to Radius Chiropractic:
My digestion has improved, my nerve pain has lessened, my anxiety has decreased, I no long stutter (that did happen for a couple of weeks when I was anxious), and I feel a sense of calm more often than I used to.
If you have the option to receive chiropractic care utilizing Torque Release Technique in your area, I say go for it. If you need the extra support and have the extra funds (insurance seems to be tricky with this type of care), it can be quite an interesting self-care journey. I am still learning about how this type of care can support me, but so far it’s been worth it.
