How I Used the Peloton Hack for Self Discovery

Mind, Body, Spirit. It’s all connected. I’ve recently begun my cycling journey and have been using it simultaneously for self-discovery. I was unaware of the impact cycling would have on me until one month after cycling for 4 days a week. I’m honestly astounded at how a simple 30-minute Peloton class could change my life, but it has. Keep reading to find out how I used the “Peloton Hack” to save over $2,000 and still cycle whenever I want!

My body was craving movement, but with it being so cold outside I sometimes find it hard to leave the house (I work from home after all). In November 2022 I felt it was time to change up my daily routine. I stretch almost every day (shoutout to forward folds & downwards dogs!) but I needed something more. I also tried a gym membership and a pilates membership, all of which I couldn’t stick to.

I figured out that what I needed was an at-home invitation to move my body but also be a part of a community. That’s when I kept seeing myself cycling. I had only cycled maybe 4 times in my life up until I purchased a bike, so I was curious and did some research. I do believe my spirit guides were showing me images of being on a bike and my intuition was strongly pulling me to purchase one.

What is the Peloton Hack?

I did what the average person does when they need a product review- I went to Youtube. That’s where I first heard about the “Peloton Hack”. Basically, you find a bike online that’s more affordable than the Peloton bike. I personally did not want to spend $2,000+ on an exercise bike, but I still wanted the experience and the Peloton classes. The bike I purchased is perfect and suits all of my needs. I found it on Amazon and it’s under $300 (they often have coupons). Tip: Make sure the bike you choose has a stand for your phone or tablet!

How much does the peloton app cost?

Once you have your bike chosen, delivered, and put together in its designated space, you’ll download the Peloton app on your phone or tablet. It’s $12.99 per month but comes with a 30-day free trial. They have a ton of workouts, yoga classes, pilates classes, cycling classes, meditation classes, and more. They really do have something for everyone.

Who is the Best peloton instructor?

When you’re ready to use the Peloton app, you’ll pick what class you want to join. Securely place your tablet or phone on the bike and begin your class! In just 30 days I have become a huge fan of Peloton and my favorite cycling instructor is Ally Love. I think you’ll love her, too. She is vibrant, encouraging, and has lots of fun during class. I seem to keep going back to her classes time and time again. She also doesn’t get too personal but stays focused and keeps the audience engaged and makes them feel seen.

How does exercise help with self discovery?

Self discovery is the process of building a deeper understanding of who you are, what you want, what you need, a time of processing, reflection, and more. I did not expect my 30-minute Peloton ride to become the space for self discovery- but it did. Every time I get on the cycling bike I am reminded of 3 things: I am resilient, I am strong, and I am right where I need to be.

Those 30 minutes on the cycling bike have allowed me space to prepare for the day ahead or process the day I’ve just had. Cycling is an invitation to tune into my mind, body, and spirit. I feel so energized afterward, too. I defiantly don’t have to explain all the benefits of working out because I am sure you know at least a few. I will say my body, my mind, my emotional self, and my soul feel much more in alignment now that I have a cycling practice in my life.

The only way to truly know what is your go-to practice is to try new things and find something that sticks. A month or two ago I would have never thought cycling would be mine. I trusted my intuition and followed the calling and I am so glad I did.

So what are you waiting for? Find the things that are for you! Is it yoga, running, cycling, karate, jiu-jitsu (that’s my fiance’s preference), pilates, or dance? Find your things and stick to them. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you. Bring balance into your daily life through the body.
