3 Ways to Practice Authentic Empowerment

Chances are, you’ve heard me talk or post about Authentic Empowerment. It is the core pillar of all the services I offer.

Authentic Empowerment: “When the personality comes fully to serve the energy of its soul, that is authentic empowerment” – Gary Zukav

Authentic Empowerment to me is the active participation of bringing more of one’s soul-self into their life. Instead of fully relying on the personality self, the ego, the triggers, etc to make all of the decisions, we become more aware that the soul self is available to us for guidance at all times.

I first read of Authentic Empowerment in Garzy Zukavs’s work The Seat of the Soul. It was the exact verbiage I was missing when it came to the core of the services I offer. Reading those words struck a deep core within me, leading me to a very big Eureka! moment.

What living outside of Authentic Empowerment may look like:

(there are varying degrees to the suggestions listed, we are all on our journey, and sometimes going through phases of non-empowerment are the EXACT experiences that lead us back to it)

  • confusion
  • lack of self-expression
  • loneliness
  • depression
  • stuck energy
  • hopelessness
  • mood swings
  • fear
  • uncertainty
  • living in the past, living in the future

What Authentic Empowerment May Look Like:

  • joy
  • motivation
  • strong intuition
  • creation
  • self-expression
  • contentment
  • being present
  • self-awareness
  • confidence

There are many more detailed items I could add to each list, but I feel like you get the picture.

So, friends, in what ways can we all become a little more authentically empowered in our daily lives? I’ve narrowed down many tips into just 3. Put these into practice, and you’ll be more in tune with your soul than ever before.

1. How to Connect to Your Soul Every Day

I first learned this quick yet effective meditation at the age of 14. It was the first class of a level 1 Esoteric Healing class. My grandmother was teaching and leading the group through gentle mediation. In Esoteric Healing, we call it, “Align + Attune + Allow”. But I do not care what you call it, as long as you do it!

Get yourself comfortable in a meditative position. Spine long. Focus on the breath. Can you deepen the inhale and exhales? Next, begin the focus on your heart. What is it telling you today? Bring that awareness down the spine, through the legs, and ground the best you can into the earth. I am a strong believer in grounding!

After you’ve grounded, let’s go upwards. Focus your energy up the spine to the top of the head – that’s the crown chakra. Imagine with me, a golden cord extends from the top of your head about a foot and reaches your Soul. Make a conscious connection between your personality self, and your soul self. Give your soul a big hug! What does the energy feel like? Look like? Now, say it with me – “I allow my soul self to be fully present in my body. I ground my soul self into the earth. I am a conduit between soul and earth. I shine brightly with soul energy.”

What do you feel? Is there a message you are receiving from this mediation? there is no need to close this channel you have opened. Your soul self WANTS to flow freely through you all day every day – happy dance because you’ve just hit the jackpot.

Make this sacred connection every morning. See how this gentle meditation changes your life. Once you feel ready, I invite you to do this throughout your day. While taking a walk, in a meeting, at a dinner party, basically any time you need a soul energy boost. Connecting to my soul daily has changed my life and I know it has the power to change yours.

2. Intention Awareness

My second tip for living a more authentically empowered life is to bring awareness to the intention behind the things you: think, say, and do.

Trust me, I know this is a really hard one. But with practice, you can absolutely bring this into your daily life. One simple question I have for you to hold onto throughout the day is, “What are my intentions behind this?”. If you can get used to asking yourself this, you will find life becomes more fulfilling. How can I make a bold statement like that? Because it’s happened to me!

I noticed when I began to ask these questions, I stopped thinking, saying, and doing things that were out of alignment with my authentic self. Okay, here is a personal example: I’m driving home late one night and I really want Ice cream. My brain says “but Brittany you’ve had sweets already today- the last thing you need is ice cream!” Which is very very true. Then I ask, “well, what is your intention behind stopping at the store and buying ice cream?” I did a little deeper than the obvious answer and go, “it’s to fulfill a sugar crazing that I have a goal of restricting because I eat too much sugar. ”

Are you with me still? So then I remind myself of my goal to eat less sugar, and that ice cream is not something I need to put into this holy temple of mine (haha!) At least not for today.

Here’s another example: “I want to work out more”. What is the intention behind that goal? Is it to look thinner? Is it to gain muscle? Is it to support my health long term? Once the intention is figured out, it makes saying yes or no a lot easier.

I’ll give you one last example: “You can’t write a book because you’re not a good enough writer”. What is the intention behind the thought I have just had? Was it based on fear or love? Did it show me a trigger or a deeper belief I can change? Once we get down to it, I am shown that my intention behind such a thought is rooted in a fear of failure. Because writing is something I love, and the vulnerability of writing a book is scary for me. So my intention behind saying that negative thought was to protect myself from failure before I have even started. Sheesh!

So, to wrap up this one, put it on a sticky note and get into the habit of asking yourself, What is my intention behind this? You will learn a lot about yourself if you do. You will provide yourself with a basis for self-reflection, healing, and behavior/habit change. You will begin to change the way you think about yourself and the world around you.

3. Do Something for the Joy of it

Easy! So easy, right?

Well, what if what brings you joy has also brought you to fear?

Can you guess the soul lesson here? Courage to do the thing I love regardless of the fear of holding me back. That will lead the Authentic Empowerment in your life. So tell me, what is the thing you know brings you joy? Is it a secret? or a hidden love? A talent that you’ve long forgotten? It’s time to go for it. We can do it together. How’s this, I’ll start taking lessons if you go are that thing that brings you joy too. because God knows the world needs more Joy now than ever. So let’s add to the collective joy and release these fears. Are you in?
